Candied sweet potatoes are the perfect Holiday side dish for Thanksgiving. This southern-style dish is the ideal Fall comfort food!

Ingredients
  

  • 6-8 Medium Sweet Potatoes
  • 8 TBSP Unsalted Butter
  • 2 TSP Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 TSP Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 TSP Ground Ginger
  • 1 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 TBSP Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 TBSP Maple Extract
  • 2 TSP Orange Juice
  • 1-2 TSP Orange Zest Zest from 1/2 an Orange

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F
  • Wash, peel, and slice your sweet potatoes into approximately 1/4 inch thick slices
  • Place them into a large baking dish with half of your butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and brown sugar. Cover with foil and place in the oven.
  • In a small saucepan place the rest of your butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, maple extract, orange juice, and orange zest. Cook on the stovetop on low and simmer.
  • After 20-25 minutes, take sweet potatoes out and mix them around being careful not to break. Pour your sauce mixture over the potatoes and place back in the oven until the potatoes are fork tender or about 15-20 minutes. Remove and let rest for 10 minutes. Serve and ENJOY!
